About:

Ivano (pronouced long E-vano) enjoys working with children, adolescents, parents, couples and adults struggling with their own mental health issues. He creates a safe and warm environment and uses his relationship in therapy to facilitate the healing process in his clients.

Ivano brings over 20 years of working with children and adolescents as a school counselor in the Long Beach School District. He has many years of experience creatively engaging children and teens to help them work through difficult issues. He is particularly passionate about helping children and parents foster more positive connections amid behavioral, relationship, mental health and academic difficulties.

Ivano uses a “schema therapy” approach which integrates cognitive behavioral, attachment and psychodynamic theories and experiential approaches. He helps identify underlying needs both for children and adults. With adults he helps clients recognize and navigate unmet childhood emotional needs that are related to current adult struggles. Ivano values the relationship between faith and the growth journey and can help clients understand how faith development plays a part in the formation of the individual.

Ivano has a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from CSULB. He has been a School Counselor in the LBUSD for the past 25 years. Ivano is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapy at the Soul Restoration Project. He practices under the license and supervision of Catherine Morrill, MDiv., LMFT (#49091).
